He was walking back to his home after spending about half n hour in the internet cafe that is about 1 km away from his home...It was 10pm..and the markets in the vicinity had almost shut down..except for the tea shop/bakery on the main road..it all seemed so dead and lonely...so very different from 9.30pm when it was abuzz with life....the old airport opposite the road was also almost as dead as a graveyard is but just a little more green..
he had just reached infront of the tea shop, that he felt a tug on his shirt...he stopped and thought..what the hell..and looked back..there was a little boy of about 6-7 yrs in age, with a look of innocence and a sparkle in his eyes...and the kid then said.."Please buy me some food for my little bro there"...he looked up in the direction the kid was pointing at...a lady with an infant in her arms was standing there...she wanted to say something..but she couldnt...the infant was crying..and she was trying to rock the infant so that it should stop crying....the kid then said.."we came here from a small city and we have been betrayed and stranded here..all our money is gone and my little bro is hungry...please dont give me money but do buy some food for him"...
he looked up again...at the lady holding the infant...her eyes were pleading and she was hoping that someone would help them out...he was confused...whether he should give money...would it be the right thing to do or not...whether they would buy food or not...he was lost in his thoughts for a moment....."please...help us..."...the kid said it again....
He knew what he had to do..probably it was the right thing to do at that point of time....so he dived in his wallet and saw what he had...there was one Rs 500 note and a Rs 20 note.....he wished he had a Rs 50 to give to the kid...but then he took out the Rs 20 and gave it to the kid...and saw the kid run to the tea shop to buy something...he looked up and saw the lady smiling...still trying to soothe the infant....
and then he said to himself..."tomorrow should be a better day for them...amen"
