Rang barse bheege chunar wali...rang barse...Holi hai :)

We celebrated Holi yesterday in my institute campus and it was one of the best celebrations ever in my life...

HOLI is the festival of colours in India and it is celebrated mostly in northern India, so it was an important festivals for us north indians who are based in the southern part of the country.. Not wanting to miss out on celebrating the festival...we arranged colors and snacks for some 150 odd people who said they would play Holi this yr...

So the stage was set...a fine Sunday evening was fixed(23rd...although Holi was on 22nd) because tht is the time when all of us were free from our classes...and as the clock struck 2000hrs...colors started to fly up in the air...we applied gulal (dry color) on almost everyone...whether he was a north indian, south indian, sikh, hindu, muslim, christian...ntn mattered...it was a time to celebrate and enjoy...we hugged each other...wished each other..and started having fun....people started drenching each other in water...and after 5 mins...u cudnt recognize who was who...we all were a different shades of the rainbow...the music was on...the stage was set...and we started to shake a leg as well...one of our professors also joined in for the celebrations...tht was way sporty of him...kudos to him...

once we all looked like colored ghosts and had finished applying dry color...we all had snacks to eat...samosa...jalebi...chips...and ras malai (typical indian sweets and salty snacks)...half the time what we ate had a lil bit of color on it was well from the hands...not too good eh...but what the heck...it was a celebration time....and then came the time of the water colors...the colors tht u apply by mixing in water...and the best part is that these colors stay on for a few days....caught hold of anyone in sight and just rubbed the color on their faces and neck n all...people were throwing bucket loads of colored water on everyone in the vicinity..it was fun n awesome getting drenched..colored...laughing...where jus the teeth remained white...n in some cases not even that..lol...but then we all were one..we all looked similar...didnt matter who was who...friend or foe...we all were celebrating together...

so till abt 2230 hrs..we kept playing holi...drenching each other...coloring each other...and then...wen the colors finished...we went back to the dance floor to shake a leg to some of the most famous holi songs such as rang barse bhege chunar wali n all...it was a fun sight i gues...20-30 pink..red..black looking guys n girls dancing on the ground like crazy..lost in their own world....got some pics clicked ....lol..if u look at them...u ld probably get scared...but for us...they are one of the best memories for us to cherish....finally we winded up the program at 2330...and decided to go have a bath...

i bathed for 45 mins to an hr...to get the color off....but unsuccessfully...still am pinkinsh red on most of my face and entirely on my neck...lol...its fun...lol...it ll take a few days for the color to go off completely...till then i can happily scare some ppl out :D
